8 strong years!

One Team, One Dream. This has been the slogan of Triton Dragon Boat racing team for 8 years. 8 years of unending commitment to Dragon Boating and 8 years of competitive paddling that made the team victorious in every races that they are joining.

As a celebration on their 8th year Anniversary, Triton in partnership with PCL
(Philippine Collegiate League) held the very first Triton-PCL dragon boat cup last July 1, 2017 at Roxas Blvd in Manila. These event was participated by different schools (San Beda Dragon Boat Rowing Team, Adamson Paddlers Falcones Remigantes & DLSU Dragon boat Team) and club crews from Cebu and Manila (PADS Adaptive Dragon boat racing team, Bruins: Racers of the High Seas, Rogue Pilipinas Paddlers Club, Philippine Blue Phoenix Dragon boat Club Inc., Seahawks PH, Amateur Paddlers Philippines, Rowers Club Philippines Sea Dragon and SeaWarriors).

It was definitely a day of fun and celebration as the event was not just about the competition but it also offered band and solo performances to ease the pressure from all the paddlers. The event was also tagged as one of the most organized dragon boat competition held by a club crew here in the country, proving that Triton is not just a competitive team but also a team that can work hand and hand to deliver a successful event.

Check out the teams who won in the Triton-PCL Dragonboat cup below. Truly no efforts were wasted because of all these achievements.

Kwebang Lampas: #SummerlOVin

I’m marking the end of my summer 2014 at this remote beach called Kwebang Lampas. It is a small coast located at Pagbilao Quezon wherein everyone can enjoy swimming, camping and caving. From Manila this area is about 4 -5 hrs travel, it’s like a travel up North for Pangasinan.

For my last summer outing i’m enjoying the getaway with my One Voice Chorale fambam. I participate the outing every year since i joined the group and i’m just happy to see the improvements of holding this event from each incoming executive boards.

2008 – Resort in Cavite
2009 – Splash Mountain, Laguna
2010 – Pansol, Laguna
2011 – Bolinao, Pangasinan
2012 – Nagsasa, Zambales
2013 – Fami, Laguna
2014 – Pagbilao, Quezon
2015 – Boracay?? Bohol?? AHAHA

I can’t wait for the next outing 🙂

Before you actually see the beach you will need to have a short boat ride and trek for 20 minutes. Upon reaching our cottage i immediately bring out my tent and built it, suddenly it rained and my tent didn’t resist the water huhu. Good thing it stopped that night and was able drain and clean it.

The fun part started late afternoon when we started to play games. The group was divided in to two. Group 1 consists of Janine, Jp,  Marco, Ron, Sinan, Pao and Iris and together with me in group 2 were Rommel, Darwin, Noel, Nati, Jem and Val. As expected the groups were too competitive and very technical when it comes to the rules of the game. Some were slightly stressed but most of us really had fun.

As a summary here is a video clip created by Marco

For First timers here’s what to expect

2. The clean water costs 50 pesos – Pang banlaw
3. The comfort rooms are dangerous for your health haha so you better bring diatabs
4. soft drinks are 20 pesos each!!
5. Bonfire is not allowed at the beach

6. No electricity

SPECIAL THANKS TO THE EXECUTIVE BOARD 2014 – 2015 🙂 Congrats and Good job!

Boracay Day 3: Pub Crawl

My vacation is almost done but hola i still have one last activity to attend to.

Before going to Boracay I’ve already seen some of my friends on Facebook wearing yellow shirt while drinking and looks like having a good time. Hmmmm What aboout it that looks fun? Yeah, curiosity strikes, and I told myself to do the activity when i visit Boracay.
I bet most of you haven’t heard about ‘Boracay Pub crawl’ right? Me too! I don’t know that exist either, but the time i experienced this thing makes me wanna do it again. Saya!

Turning strangers into friends. That’s the goal of the activity. I literally did what needs to be done. I was able to gain friends and was able to talk to them already via FB after it. FC FC din pag may time. Haha. This activity is not just a getting-to-know kind of stuff, the pub crawl team will tour you around the islands best and popular bars. This is for us to experience Boracay PARTY! And I think to be closer to our new found friends.
There will be stubs given upon registration, these stubs will be used in every bar the whole gang will visit to claim ‘SHOTS’. There will also be games beside the beach and so more ‘SHOTS’ will be given. I am not going to detail much of what happened so that you’ll also be curious. Haha.

So how can you participate? Be at Tibraz, Station 1! 8:00pm! Regular price is 990 pesos but they have limited pre selling tickets which is 690 for ladies and 790 for men. So you guys better be early for you to have discounts. They are operating every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday this Summer.

Til next time!!! Thank you!
Can you give me a BORACAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!

Boracay Day 3 – Ariel’s Point

It is very hard to tell a story when you experienced a lot in a trip. Joke Bitin. haha. Considering this my last day at Boracay, this day was filled with so much enjoyment. After being wasted last night, it was a big challenge for me to wake up for another activity. My friends and i decided to try Ariel’s point. It is where you can enjoy cliff diving, unlimited beer and snacks for the whole afternoon, buffet lunch is also being served . The activity will start with a briefing, safety reminders for those who will do cliff diving. There is certain levels that everyone can try from 5, 7, 8 to 15 meters. Main rule is to jump at your own risk. hehe. After briefing we already ride a boat to Ariel’s point that is 40 minute away from Boracay. As soon as we landed the place everyone started jumping. As a first timer i just jumped at 5 meters. Mataas sya promise. I did it twice and i think that’s enough na. haha success. We also tried Kayaking and snorkeling that is also included in the fee. The price of this bunch of fun is 2000 pesos i’m just lucky that a new found friend treated us half of the price. Yipee. I recommend Ariel’s point for those who want a buwis buhay activity.

Here’s a preview of what to look forward at Ariel’s Point

Boracay Day 2

Our Day 2 officially started and i can’t wait to be amaze by the Islands beauty. What happened this day was relaxing and extremely exhaustively-fun. First we swam near station 1 coz its mossy near our hotel. The water was so cold and refreshing. I really wanted to swim for hours but i’m also cautious with my health. Ang hirap pag may sakit. Remember guys to take good care of yourselves before vacations so you can enjoy 100%.

I remember a friend blogging about the sand of Boracay and it’s actually real! Pulbos na pulbos talaga. lol. I would like to steal some sand from the island but i don’t know where to put them though. hehe. After swimming we ate at Jonah’s, according to my friend it’s one of those popular resto one must try. They serve fruit shakes and meals with big servings good for sharing!

I also had a whole body massage beside the beach. Grabe sobrang narelax buong pagkatao ko. haha. It only cost me 350 pesos ang mura. After the massage i just stayed in the hotel until my friend Aki’s friend arrived that night. Medyo na delay din sila because nacancel ang flight buti na lang nakasakay sila ng ibang plane bound to kalibo. Their names are Cass, ‘Ms. San Fernando La Union’ booooooom and her best friend Genald na super jolly. We immediately went to Guilly’s after they had dinner to have some shots. I didn’t expect that our drinking session will last til 4am. We even swam into the beach in the middle of it. kaya pala they are getting our phones para ipatago for awhile kasi magsiswimmming, sobrang di ako ready haha. I also remember Genald and I buying bbqs and hotdogs then kinukulit ko yung nagiihaw. haha. basag. wasak. I really enjoyed their company napasayaw nila ako ng todo. I really felt na nasa Boracay na talaga ako because of them.

Boracay Day 1

After so many Boracay trip attempts, finally a touch down! We flew via Air Asia Zest bound to Kalibo, had a short delay but was still able to arrive early. Good pa din! We arrived in our hotel around 8pm and had a quick dinner at D’ Mall. After eating we decided to have our henna tattoo by P&P Tattoo. I don’t have any idea what design to wear i just remember seeing someone with Chinese characters on his chest so medyo yun na lang din pinagawa ko. Gaya gaya. lol. The henna will dry up after 2 hours so we went back to our hotel with shirts off. That was one liberating experience for me haha. Syempre i also need to do ‘Stomach in’ gets?. Trolol. I promise next time may abs na.
Forgot to mention i am sick during the trip. So the first thing i did was to buy meds, Antibiotic, Neozep, Bio flu! Hay. I’m sneezing and coughing the whole 4 day stay. Grrrrrr. But i still enjoyed it of course. I decided to walk a bit  around the area and took 1 bottle of San mig at Epic. Napakapasaway lang!

At last Boracay we finally met 🙂

Circuit Run – The Race Day

30k. iniisip ko pa lang nalulula na ako, pero hindi ito ang distance na magpapatoob sa loob ko. As promised last year i will open myself to longer races. Graduating to my usual 21k run and a step closer to my 42k dream. I know its been a slow pace improvement and it’s been 2 years since i started this all. But as they say, all things should be done in the perfect timing.

The race was participated by 200 runners, i think the organizers limit it to this number to better handle the event. I was able to talk to some runners during the race. Some of them were ultra marathoners and some were first timers. Ang saya because each runner supports and cheer each other. We even had a group pic while in the Taal lake view. Best scenery next to Corregidor i must say.

The route was full of downhill and uphill with unexpected OA steepness. Nabugbug talaga ang tuhod ko dito. Was not able to run during the uphill part, ang taas sobra! I wanted to show the killer parts so you guys can imagine how hard it was but i decided not to bring any phone.Anyway, My breathing during this time was still okay but my knees was already in pain. I didn’t have a choice but to walk until 25k and do a run-walk routine after it just to finish the race. I told myself to finish within 4hrs but i failed. lol. I finish the race in 4hrs and 25 mins.

Thanks Lipa!

Circuit Run Day 1

Another milestone was achieved but before sharing the race experience, let me just tell you the things we did, the things we had before the long run. Saturday afternoon we already head to Batangas, and while waiting for JM to pick us, Jing thought us some great points and must know about photography. Grabe! I really learned a lot and was able to able to apply it during our two day stay.

After our photography session, JM arrived and we went to their lovely home. We visited their mini supermarket and tour around the place. Sayang we really wanted to swim but we opted not too since we want to conserve our energies for the race.

As usual because we are runners may required carbo loading woooooooh!

Yakult Run 2014

Week from now i will be running the farthest race of my life. I will be participating in a running event in Batangas and will join the 30 kilometer category. I started training last week by  joining small races, like the once we have in our province – Mariathon 10k run. And because i needed more mileage i decided to join for the second time in Yakult run.

Night before the race i was with my choir-mates for the annual year end general assembly that was followed by an after party in Morato but since i need to sleep i opted to go home and have a rest. Sadly i didn’t had enough of that because of some problems with my phone that i purchased online. Bottomline im not in my best condition to run a race.

I am happy to go to the event though since i will be meeting my friends that will also run in the event. I was able to run with Tito Jay and Ikoy in the first kilometers of the race. I was able to see Ino as well in the road and had our selfies after the race.

I didn’t have any race strategy  during the run i just told myself to run and only stop for hydration. I ended the race in 1hr 38 mins not bad at all. I just wish i could apply my pace here during my 30k run.

For my race evaluation
Race Route – 10/10 🙂
Finisher and freebies – 6/10 – no improvement at all. i still received a large shirt even though i pass the finish line early

I would still want to congratulate Yakult on their 25th anniversary 🙂 Ok lagi ang tyan namin 😉

Takbuhan 2013 Throwback!

I ended my running year again! and all i can say is THANK YOU!

Thanks for having a good PRs, new friends, new achivements and new opportunities. Truly running has given me a lot!

Let me share to you the running events that i will never forget! A Throwback!

Last January i got my personal record for 16k! I am very happy to finish 1hr 34mins at Enviro Run 2013. This run taught me that pacing is very important to achieve good result and a good sleep before running is a must! Ito siguro ang run na ang ganda ng form and execution ko sa running! At di na sya naulit sa mga next runs ko! haha

I also ran with my college classmates Jing and Gerald. Also gained two new friends Jerel and Je.

On the same month a dream half marathon happened! I was able to conquer the SKYWAY! I also got my first 21k PR even though i paced my friends (Ate Jhoa and New friend Marc) for awhile during the race! I finished with 2hrs 30 mins in this event. I was able to see my professor that did a full mary! ang galing!

For February i joined a new kind of run that caters runners a new experience! Color Manila, a 10k night run happened. I also got my 10k per in this event! 🙂

Last June i was able to join my first 21k in Run United! I’m not proud of my finish time but i am happy that i was able to ran with my friends. Also did  a couple of 16k and 21k runs i had a hard time producing a decent finish time. Dadating talaga yung time na you’d think you are not improving and there are tendency of quitting.

March: Yakult 16k run

April: NatGeo 21k Run

June: Run United 2 21k run
June: Run United 2 21k run
July: Botak at Kadla ni Pidol 16k

Then October came and i had my 21k Anniv run in the same event at the Rexona Men 2013! This i think would be one of the most memorable since the route is field with party music that is very enjoyable! Also, got a chance to be featured on a magazine! haha swerte lang.

After running 21k for a year i told myself that i will be open in running longer distances. A month later New Balance 2k13 happened. I was not expecting to run in this event but i think God gave me a one shot opportunity 🙂 A friend of mine sell his racebib in FB and i grab it! 🙂 At last i graduated in 21k and conquered 25 kilometers.

My last run for this year was the best! I can’t put into words how happy i am to out run myself and take home a Milo Marathon Medal. Lahat ng doubts ko sa sarili with regards to running ay binura nang run na ito! Im proud of myself i finished 2hrs 24 mins!
I wanted to thank my pacer friend teammate Bev for running with me!

.

And thats it! I’m looking forward to my first 32k and full marathon this year! I hope magawa ko!
